United We Smile is a first-of-its-kind dental clinic in Traverse City developed through a partnership between United Way Northwest Michigan and the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Created to address the region’s limited access to dental care, the clinic provides effectively free services to veterans, children, pregnant women, and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. As a transformative shift for United Way, the project represents a move from traditional fundraising to direct community impact, delivering essential oral health services and closing critical care gaps across northwest Michigan.
