Cooper Standard, a global automotive supplier, took a proactive and collaborative approach to developing its new corporate headquarters by engaging its architect and construction manager early in the process, prior to site selection. This integrated strategy allowed the team to evaluate building design and site options simultaneously, reducing risk and improving overall project alignment.
The process led to the selection of a 10+ acre site at the southwest corner of 7 Mile and Haggerty in Northville, with the site owner serving as developer. Through close collaboration during design, the team aligned scope, budget, and performance goals, seamlessly transitioning into construction. Completed in just 14 months, the project delivered a landmark headquarters that supports Cooper Standard’s long-term growth and operational needs.
“Thanks in large part to Cunningham-Limp, we were able to deliver a first-class development for Cooper Standard, one of the region’s leading local automotive suppliers. Cunningham-Limp was part of Cooper’s preferred development team and together they brought a wonderful plan to our site in Northville. They worked collaboratively with our development personnel to finalize the design and budget, enabling us to sign a long-term lease with Cooper. As we transitioned into construction, the entire process went incredibly smoothly. Responsible for all Pre-Construction and Construction activities, C-L played a leading role in a highly effective development team. “
